WordPress Security Guide ...

I had every intention of making this post part of my WordPress Guide series and even begun getting the information together. I always look at security of every “internet facing” application or service as integral part of the design and not something to be addressed later and was going to cover some basics here.

I had every intention of making this post part of my WordPress Guide series and even begun getting the information together. I always look at security of every “internet facing” application or service as integral part of the design and not something to be addressed later and was going to cover some basics here.

But basics have been covered in multiple posts by multiple bloggers and to make this post stand out - I would have to make it better. Now, that is quite a bit of work Laughing unless there is a better solution!

One of my customers and readers - Sherif, who runs his own hosting and blog managed to beat me to the punch and have released a 16 pages Report that covers just about everything you need to know about WordPress Security and maybe even more then you care to find out. Here is what you will learn:

    * 3 Questions To Ask Your Web Hosting Provider
    * File Permissions
    * Database Permissions
    * Table Prefix
    * Access to wp-admin
    * Access to vital WordPress Files in your Main Directory
    * Beware Downloading New Themes
    * Roles and Permissions for users
    * Directory browsing
    * WordPress Version number
    * Brute Force Attacks
    * Software and Plugins up-to-date
    * Taking Backups

It is not a free report but at less then $6 it is well worth the price and I recommend you get it. And NO, I’m not an affiliate and get no benefit from sharing this info outside of saving myself whole bunch of time on reasearch and writing about the topic that was covered so well!
